The name of this bar & ordinary, The Brotherhood of Thieves, is taken from the title of an 1844 pamphlet written on Nantucket by Stephen S. Foster. It serves casual lunches and dinner, specializing in sandwiches and simple fare. Customers can choose to sit in a cozy basement setting, a lighter upstairs area, or an outdoor patio and bar.

About a mile from town, The Seagrille offers a full menu of seafood with regional fish and shellfish prepared traditionally, creatively, and seasonally with fresh vegetables and house made pastas.  The Seagrille is known for its traditional quahog chowder and lobster bisque with a dilled pastry crust.  The menu is balanced with all natural, hormone-free, certified angus beef.  They also prepare their breads and desserts in-house.  The outside bar is a great spot to enjoy a cold draft beer with a light bite or dinner, while the indoor bar boasts a cozy atmosphere.  Plenty of parking.

The Brotherhood is an island fixture, serving a variety of simple sandwiches, burgers, and chowder, not to mention some more sophisticated entrees.  The old-world charm of the downstairs, with rustic brick, wooden beams, and darkly stained furniture is relic of an 1840's Whaling Bar.

Located in an historic whaling captain's mansion built in 1831, the dining room and lounge are below street level and have an updated colonial atmosphere. California-French cuisine is featured, with everything freshly prepared on the premises. Chef Mark Gottwald's food is bold and flavorful, and presented with understated elegance. Dinner menu selections include lobster, calamari, crab cakes, salmon, cod, prawns, pasta, chicken, duck, beef, and lamb. Only the freshest ingredients are used.

Located on the outskirts of town,just a few blocks from Main Street, Fifty-Six Union is a dining destination not to be missed.  Signature dishes include Javanese Spicy Fried Rice with Shrimp and Chicken, Curried Mussels, and Clams Casino to name a few.  A unique wine list is also available.  Global cuisine is served nightly, and guests may choose to dine in one of four atmospheres... Bistro Bar, The Celebrity Room, under the Cozy Awning, or in the Private Garden Gazebo, known as "Table 56".  The bar's famous Fifty-Six Union Expresso Martini is a delight.

If you are wandering down Main Street late in the evening, you may hear people singing...  it's not from a Nantucket theater production, but rather the on-going chorus of patrons of The Club Car restaurant, which the locals refer to as the "Piano Bar".  The restaurant itself occupies the last remaining railroad car on Nantucket, acquired from the Nantucket Railroad Co., which operated from Nantucket town to Sconset.  The Club Car combines casual fine dining in a fun atmosphere.  Due to its popularity and limited seating, reservations are recommended.
